The original thatched cottage dates from 1680, however an inappropriate flat roofed extension providing a small kitchen and two bedrooms had been added around 1970. Planning permission was obtained to demolish the extension and replace it with a large octagonal kitchen dining room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The objective of the design was to create the appearance of a small group of outbuildings linked to the cottage. This allowed the identity of the original cottage to be retained and reduced the apparent scale of the new extension.
